it is truly incredible to watch someone die.

although at sometimes it is heartbreaking to see, it is also fascinating. today i was made unmistakeably aware that the spirit gives all life to the body. when the spirit is gone, the body is no longer needed. it's just a vessel to house the soul while we are here for this short while. i imagine that when Poppy saw the new home being offered to his spirit, he probably couldn't wait to get out.

how beautiful it was to watch all of his daughters sitting at his feet in adoration, holding his once-strong hands, kissing his tired forehead. it was so good to see his poor body finally relax, to see him sleep in peace. i can imagine that there is a whole host of angels taking almost as good care of him up in heaven.
