some of my friends think i look like rachael ray. little do they know that i also possess a fraction of culinary prowess akin to my food network heroine. last night my roommates and i prepared a fall feast. our harvest-inspired extravaganza included a turkey (prepared by yours truly), butternut squash soup (ibid), hashbrown casserole (jen's favorite), corn pudding, green beans, biscuits, stuffing, and pumpin pie avec whipped cream for dessert. it was a pre-holiday miracle. i certainly am grateful for the friends i have made here. i'm also thankful that my turkey and soup were AWESOME. it was the first time for making of both. i have always been mom's helper in the kitchen as far as the turkey goes...and the squash soup....well....that was a big adventure for me. not as big as the adventures my brother and i had as children pretending to be swiss family robinson. but close. very close.
can't wait for actual thanksgiving. it will be our first break of the semester, and i need it so badly. i'm really looking forward to going home, which is unusual. and when i come back, it will be less than a week until the opera--eeps!
